Dance promotes creativity and healing in a number of ways. Moving as a group brings people out of isolation, creates powerful social and emotional bonds, and generates the good feelings that come from being with others. Moving rhythmically eases muscular rigidity, diminishes anxiety, and increases energy. Moving spontaneously helps people learn to recognize and trust their impulses, and to act on or contain them as they choose. Moving creatively encourages self-expression and opens up new ways of thinking and doing.

I specialise in:

  • Early year's movement and play

  • Supporting and enriching the natural stages of developmental movement through creative dance and play for young children and their parents or carers. These sessions allow time to develop kinesthetic learning, allowing for and encouraging emotional and creative responses in play and imagination as well as developing physical skills such as balance and co-ordination, strength, agility and movement. Props, games and songs are used to support and encourage all the activities.

  • 5-12 yr olds

  • Combining dance, movement and drama to support learning and encourage confidence and creativity in children. Creative physical activities can be used to explore relevant life themes, develop social and emotional intelligence, literacy, promote independent thinking and allow opportunities for social interaction and team spirit to flourish. Physical activity engages children in an energetic way, promoting strength, balance and agility and a healthy body whilst providing the foundations to develop powers of observation, personal expressiveness and performance skills.

  • Special needs

  • Finding and using appropriate methods and activities to nurture and value the talents and abilities of children or adults with special needs. All of the above activities have the possibility of enhancing and improving the skills, confidence and well-being of people who have mild, moderate and severe physical and/or learning disabilities.

  • Adults: JustDance sessions and workshops

  • Guided and supported dance sessions suited for all ages and abilities. These fun and creative dance sessions provide any group who enjoy dancing and moving to music with an opportunity to exercise, energize and socialize with body and soul at entirely their own level. The music is an eclectic mix of rhythms, styles and moods. Sessions begin gently with a warm up and end with relaxation. These sessions aim to be fun and physical and there is further opportunity to explore in depth the many ways we can move creatively and spontaneously together.

  • Slow yoga, dance and stretch

  • These structured sessions use the principals of yin yoga, anatomical release, slow moving and passive stretching to increase and maintain energy flow, agility, strength and balance.
